Heartbeat is a partnership formed by nineteen clinical perfusionists who are specialized in extra-corporeal circulation - and blood management techniques. We perform our main activities in six different institutes in the Netherlands:

• The St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein
• The Haga Hospital in The Hague
• The University Hospital in Utrecht
• The Wilhelmina Children's Hospital Utrecht
• The Animal Laboratory of the University of Utrecht
• and the Netherlands Cancer Institute of Amsterdam

We are submitting ourselves to the reaccreditation programs of both the Dutch Society on Extracorporeal Circulation (NeSECC) and the European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusionists (EBCP). The partners are committed to continual professional development and, therefore, attend many meetings, courses and seminars to keep abreast of the latest research and techniques.

Heartbeat is fast becoming one of the leaders in the field of extra-corporeal circulation in Europe. With it's dedicated and knowledgeable teams in our centres our main goal is to excel in patient care.

Heartbeat offers a full spectrum of extra-corporeal circulation techniques including; General heart surgery- Thoracic vascular surgery- Pediatric heart surgery- Heart and lung assist device program- Heart and Lung transplants- Hyperthermic Chemotherapy- and an extensive range of blood management techniques.
